The Afghanistan War troop surge of 2009 refers to US President Barack Obama's decision to send some 30,000 US troops into Afghanistan[1] to provide further security and continue the war against Taliban and Al-Qaeda, as part of the War in Afghanistan and the Obama administration's new strategy on Afghanistan as the Iraq War quietens. Obama also mentioned the pullout of forces would begin July 2011.
