Ahmede Hussain (born 16 July 1978) is a Bangladeshi author. His ancestors hail from the former Portuguese enclave of Patherghata, Chittagong in Bangladesh. He has edited The New Anthem: The Subcontinent in its Own Words, which is an anthology of fiction from the Indian Subcontinent. The book has been greeted with acclaim: "The richness is all, both in terms of the writers brought together and in the quality of the tales that come to you one after the other." [1].

Ahmede Hussain lives and works in Dhaka.

Ahmede (Mainul) Hussain (born 16 July, 1978) is a Bangladeshi-born author, journalist and literary critic.

Hussain has joined The Daily Star ( [www.thedailystar.net] ) in 2002. Ahmede is one of the few authors in Bangladesh who writes in English in a predominantly Bengali speaking country; he is the author of Blues for Allah, a novella, which has been published in Colloquy, Monash University, Australia's journal ( [640] )

Hussain is believed to be a controversial writer, particularly for his views on religion and politics ( [641] ). He is reported to have been editing an anthology of South Asian fiction in English called Brown Fiction;and, according to his blog ( [www.ahmedehussain.blogspot.com] ) is also working on his first novel.
