Curriculum

Main Curriculum
Aim High has a curriculum based mostly on Taekwondo and Muay Thai kickboxing. As the students progress through belts, they are introduced to techniques and philosophies from Brazilian JiuJutsu and Filipino Escrima. The goal of the martial arts taught at Aim High is to make sure the students can defend themselves in any situation given.

Beyond Kicks and Punches
To progress through the ranks, an Aim High student not only needs to learn the techniques and philosophy behind the kicks and the punches, but they need to understand the nature of a true martial artist. A martial artist does not train to fight, but like the old cliche goes, they train so they won't need it. In advanced belt ranks, leadership projects are required. For instance, students can set up donation programs for their favorite charity, or possibly volunteer their time themselves. One student opened donations for stuffed animals to give to police officers to carry in their cars. Often times when a parent is being questioned by officers, it can scare the children. The stuffed animals are for the officers to give to the child in order to comfort them. In a wonderful example of how these projects truly help the community, one of the students of Aim High was in a situation in which they received the stuffed animal given to the police by the student that set up the donation program in the first place.

Tricking
Tricking has been called "an aesthetic blend of martial arts, gymnastics and breakdancing." It is a relatively new activity, and can be traced back to the early nineties when sport karate forms started incorporated even more flash techniques and gymnastics moves. It is now seen in movies such as Ong Bak or the Protector, and competitions called Battles similar to breakdance battles are commonplace among trickers.

FreeRunning/Parkour
Free running is a physical art, in which participants (free runners) use the urban and rural areas to performance movements through its structures focused on freedom and beauty.
Parkour (sometimes abbreviated to PK) or l'art du déplacement[1] (English: the art of displacement) is an activity with the aim of moving from one point to another as efficiently and quickly as possible, using principally the abilities of the human body.

These disciplines stemmed from the same group of people in France, and are at the base level very similar. Aim High is currently building equipment to make Aim High easily transformable into the only indoor Freerunning/Parkour training center on the west coast.

Parent's Night Out
At least once a month, Aim High hosts a parents night out event. The goal of the event is to provide care in an environment already trusted by the families of the studio, with trusted instructors hosting the events. The times are such that the parents can go enjoy an evening out without paying for an expensive babysitter. Some examples of parents night out include Nerf Night, where tons of Nerf toys are used to handed to the children with bouncy houses and protective goggles. Obviously rules are put in place for safety concerns. Other examples are Ninja Night, Video Game Night and Tricking Night.

Summer Camps
Each summer Aim High hosts day camps for the children with themes that are usually long term versions of the Parent's Night Out events.
