Aimee Ahern (b. 24 June 1970) is a niece of Bertie Ahern who ahead of the pre-election Ard Fheis 2006 has gained momentum as a candidate for the forthcoming 2007 General Election in the Irish Republic. She works as an auditor for a large American corporation. Her interests include current affairs, sport and health issues.

Recent developments

Due to the surprise announcement by Jim Glennon not to run in the forthcoming election, much media and indeed party speculation has arisen as to who should be the third Fianna Fail candidate to contest the 2007 election, the Fianna Fail party feel in a four seater then three candidates should contest, the leading name that has arisen is local Malahide woman Aimee Ahern, a sporty and attractive 35 year old auditor and niece of the Taoiseach and daughter of Fianna Fail politician and former Lord Mayor of Dublin Maurice Ahern. While some initially regarded Aimee Ahern as not having quite enough experience it was pointed out in various media that Aimee Ahern had in fact sought to be a candidate in a previous election just missing out and had played a significant part in the 'Drumcondra Set' the most well-oiled political machine in the country. Aimee Ahern has yet to officially throw her hat in the ring but is now widely tipped to do so many believing in the party that a young attractive and politically connected woman would stand the best chance in the next election against the likely challenger Clare Daly.
