Aisha (born Aisha Kamilah Goodison on November 8 , 1976 in Jamaica ) is a Jamaican-American singer, writer, producer and director. She was born in Jamaica, spending a few of her formative years in the capital, then raised in Miami, Florida.

Aisha was a child prodigy, exhibiting a strong gift for music and writing poetry at a very early age. Aisha is the fourth of five children born to a prominent Jamaican figure. She is the only child of her mother, a former Miss Jamaica Nation runner up.

Aisha's father, Vaughn, is a Justice Of The Peace (a Commonwealth Magistrate) and recipient of an Order of Distinction, the Commonwealth equivalent of a British OBE. He is also a musicologist and disc jockey with Hot 102 FM.

She is the niece of award winning international radio personality and playwright, the Right Honorable Barbara Gloudon. Barbara has won many awards and served as the chairwoman for the United Nation's UNESCO branch in Jamaica. She is also the niece of Poet Laureate Lorna Goodison.

Aisha’s self-titled debut album is a double disc containing 24 tracks that covers the gamut in music genres, from Rock to R&B and Jazz to Opera. Her debut single is titled "Contemporary Girl," is released on her indie label Sonustar.

Aisha was in the news recently for a criminal copyright infringement and harrassment lawsuit she filed against several entertainers and executives in the entertainment industry, alleging they willfully stole her copyrighted music and film scripts. The case is being investigated by the FBI:

: Some kook named Aisha Goodison is suing Madonna and almost everyone she's ever worked with claiming that the singer flagrantly [stole] Aisha's copyrighted music, lyrics, pictures" and then committed "something far worse and far more sinister - invasion of privacy, illegal surveillance, wiretapping, hacking, corporate theft, fraud, harassment, assault and stalking." [1266]

: Madonna fixation? Miami singer-composer Aisha Goodison - who describes herself as "an innovative, cutting-edge, multitalented artist with a God-given voice that covers several octaves" - is apparently suing Madonna and a long list of defendants that seems to include everyone with whom Madge ever did business. Goodison claims in her federal court complaint that "the nefarious Madonna … flagrantly [stole] Aisha's copyrighted music, lyrics, pictures" and then committed "something far worse and far more sinister - invasion of privacy, illegal surveillance, wiretapping, hacking, corporate theft, fraud, harassment, assault and stalking." Madonna's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, was nothing if not dismissive yesterday. "It sounds a little wacky to me," Rosenberg told me. "I'm not aware that Madonna is stalking Miss Whatshername." [1267]

The above cited attempts to discredit, defame and smear her have resulted in additional litigation against two publications, The New York Daily News and Fox News, for libel and defamation.

Goodison rubbished Liz Rosenberg's claims, refuting it with site records that recorded over 2,000 visits to her web site by the Defendants this year alone.
