Akshay (Pottathil) Menon is a film maker who lives in the United States. Akshay has worked with Oscar Entry director such as Rajiv Anchal. Akshay under the banner of akshay.biz creates, distributes and releases movies both in India and the United States. Few of the movie titles include, The Jacobison Project, Being James Miller, Made in Usa, Nothing But Life, and Outreach (in progress).

Personal Life

Akshay Pottathil started his media career as an audio visual technician (a regional occupation program) offered as part of a course in school. Upon graduation he became the director of ExploreBaja Incorporated - a company originally founded to expand the Mexican hotel promotions. Due to governmental restrictions in mexico the company closed down its technical operations in the USA. He then moved on to worked as an Instructional Assistant to a Video Production class offered at Scripps Ranch High School. During the course of his teaching career Akshay took on an offer to be the CEO of Everest Studios (a company of Everest Groups). The company focused on making promotional corporate videos and advertisement. Akshay also merged with a private investment group and ventured Everest Pictures. The company produced many documentaries and films including a remarkable film on India called "Kerala- the journey through god's own country - in his own terms." The video focused on the beauty of kerala and the political conditions of the state which need improvement. Other videos include- North India Unleased, and India-3rd largest power by 2020. Akshay was offered an opportunity to work with Rajiv Anchal after completing the documentary "US-the ultimate truth!" (A political satire).

Akshay went into the film location of "Made in USA" (Malayalam 2005) as a Public Relations Officer. The movie was also being shot in English "Nothing But Life" (Release pending). Akshay not only did the films initial public relations work but also ended up adapting the English screenplay for Nothing But life. The film starred famous talents such as R. Madhavan, Neha Pandse, Kaveri, Innocent, Sreenivasan, Nassar, Madhupal, Kalashala Babu, Babu Antony, & Thambi Antony. This film opened a door of screenwriting to Akshay Pottathil.

Other Achievement

Akshay Pottathil is a community leader who has worked hard to establish the Indian presence in USA. San Diego Museum of Man and Akshay Pottathil in 2005 displayed the 1st India tower after hour in California museum history. The event included many performin artists, hertiage display, and artifacts of India (many from his personal collection). Akshay continues to work closely with the museum directors to promote events and is planning future touring exhibits in the USA.

Besides promoting, he is also a well known stage artist in Southern California. He has performed stand-up comedy and mimicry acts in San Diego & Los Angeles areas. He has also acted in independent films during his studies in San Diego State University, from where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree.
