Galles grew up in Minneapolis where he pursued a recording career, with Skogie and the Flaming Pachucos, later renamed Skogie. In 1976 he relocated to Hollywood, California and became a familiar face in the Hollywood scene alongside musicians and celebrities such as Alice Cooper, Gene Simmons, Chevy Chase, and others. He co-founded the bands The Kats, The Nu Kats, and The Kat Club with his buddies Dennis Peters and Freddy Moore from Minneapolis. In 1981 Galles joined Danny Johnson and The Bandits and they toured the southern US on a regular basis.
