Alaine Rodin is a
American soprano who is based in
Yonkers,
New York. Rodin sings major roles in Opera houses
across the
United States Central America, Asia and
Europe.
Ms. Rodin made her European début as Micaela with
l’Opéra Comique in Paris. In past seasons she has sung Woglinde in
Das Rheingold with New Orleans Opera, Antonia in Les Contes
d'Hoffmann with Opera Lirico de Costa Rica, Liù in Turandot in
Guatemala City and Marguerite in Faust with Augusta Opera. Ms.
Rodin has also joined the New York City Opera, understudying the
role of Constance Fletcher in The Mother of Us All.

Rodin’s aria of Lady Macbeth in Terrence McNally’s play
Masterclass. She sang Verdi’s famed aria “Vieni t’affretta” in the
Broadway play nightly opposite Patti LuPone and then Miss Dixie
Carter. On the theatre stage Ms. Rodin has also sung Maria in West
Side Story in Guatemala City.
On the concert stage Ms. Rodin has
appeared as a soloist with both Sarasota Opera and Augusta Opera
and in Guatemala City. She has sung three programs with the Kyoto
International Music Festival: a solo operatic arias concert, an
evening of operatic duets, and Villa Lobos' Bachianas Brasileirias
No. 5. Ms. Rodin was also honored to join members of the Juilliard
Orchestra singing the Chants d'Auvergne by Joseph Canteloube.
Upcoming engagements include Julie in Showboat and Clara in Porgy
and Bess, and on the concert stage, Verdi’s Requiem, and Handel’s
Messiah.
A past member of the Lyric Opera Center for American
Artists with the Chicago Lyric Opera, Ms Rodin worked under the
baton of famed conductors Zubin Mehta, Leonard Slatkin and John
Nelson. A native of Berkeley, California, Ms. Rodin holds degrees
from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and The Juilliard
School. Ms Rodin has many awards to her credit including the
American Berlin Foundation Grant, Richard F. Gold Shoshanna Career
Grant, NAACP-ACT-SO competition Award, First Place YWCA Competition
Award (New York City) and the Bel Canto Competition Award.
