Alan Grossbard JP
Alan Grossbard (born Alain Maurice Grossbard)
was Glen Eira City
Council's first ever Mayor. Grossbard served as a councillor in
the Old City of Caulfield and Orrong Ward in the City of
Glen Eira from 1997
until 2005. He is a Justice of Peace. Grossbard has been
spokesperson for Alinta and TXU energy and TRU energy.
In 2000,
Grossbard received 8,109 primary of a possible 19,629 formal votes
(41.31%). Grossbard was first to be elected to Orrong Ward.
Likewise in the March 2003 Glen Eira City Council Elections, where Grossbard
was also elected in first place for Orrong Ward. Grossbard received
4,647 primary votes out of a possible 20,058 formal votes
(23.17%).
Grossbard was alleged to have been assaulted by fellow
Glen Eira councillor
Noel Erlich
within the Council Chambers. Grossbard was one of the nine
councillors sacked by the Victorian Local Government Minister in August
2005.
