Alan Compton Luckham moved from Howard Pottery in Stoke-on-Trent to Hornsea in 1958.

He was a very capable modeller and produced a wide range of items for Hornsea (none of them bear his name), including the Fauna Royal range, he also modelled the production versions of many John Clappison designs.

Whilst at Hornsea Pottery, he collaborated with Scarborough Pottery, designing most of the items they produced in the 1960s and 70s.

He retired in 1979 but contined to make and fire ceramic models, mainly wildlife studies, these were sold in various Yorkshire galleries.

There is a display of his work in Hornsea Museum.
