Alanna Shelast (born April 14, 1987) is a
Canadian model who hails from
Kelowna,
British Columbia.
Widely known for her association with with the first cycle of
Canada's Next Top Model, Shelast was
originally not chosen as one of the top ten finalists on the
series. It was after one contestant could no longer be a part of
the competition that Shelast was brought in as a last minute
replacement. It was her simple yet dynamic beauty and her sweet and
pleasant nature that made Alanna an early fan favourite. While not
as immediately attention grabbing as some of the other contestants,
Alanna was a quick study whose ability to improve week upon week
and transform into a bonafied model that took her to the series
finale, where she ultimately took second place to
Whitby,
Ontario's
Andrea Muizelaar. In a three to two final
decision Alanna was as close as one could possibly get without
winning the actual title, but did walk away with an enormous boost
in self confidence when, during the judge's deliberation
America's Next Top Model's own
Jay Manuel held up
her photo and stated "This could be the new frigging
Linda
Evangelista!"
Originally signed to Jett Models of
Vancouver,
British
Columbia, following the show Alanna signed with
Sutherland
Models, the agency with whom
Canada's
Next Top Model winner
Andrea Muizelaar was signed as a part of
her victory. Alanna has since left
Sutherland Models to pursue other
interests and options.
