Wang, 15, has already played in many major competitions and events, placing in many of them. Albert spends a great deal of his time in Hayden Hall, a music and fine arts devoted building. Many talent scouts have already been impressed by the incredible flow of notes that Wang strings together when he is playing a piece.
Wang has performed nationally and internationally over the course of his piano career. Wang has, in fact, been playing since the age of four, when he first showed interest in the instrument. Wang has received distinctions in various piano competitions, including the World Piano Competition and Walgreens National Concerto Competition. [1]
Albert's incredible resume also lists that he has studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music and currently takes lessons at the Oberlin Observatory.
Albert has won many awards for being such an accomplished and skilled pianist, and has placed as high as first in competitions. His brilliance on and off the piano bench seems far unrecognized, however. He achieves highest honors grades at WRA and continues to surprise many college scouts, such as Harvard Communtiy College, as they continue to observe his many skills. Many of his close friends quote Albert's hard work. One fan quoted: "...he plays the piano like an angle..." [2] A close friend quotes: "[Wang's] dedication is sincere, his love for the piano is palpabile. He spends at least two hours of his day at [Hayden Hall] playing, and gives up a lot of his time for the piano. When his fingers gracefully flow across the keys, he seems to create an astonishing hush over the croud he is playing for. They seem memorized by his amazing and creative ability." Another dorm mate says that "[Wang's] integrity shows as his fingers fly across the keys, his compassion obvious and evidence. He clearly has a love for the piano that no one else can believe, and even his instructors give the highest praise. He maintains persistence, even through the hardest of struggles, and his intensity at which he plays is incredible evident."
The school's newspaper, the Reserve Record, published an article about Wang's talent. The article quotes: "Albert's talent is outstanding, and his skills are incredible." [3]
The praise, however, does not end there for Wang. His teacher and mentor, Margaret Karam '79 quotes that "It is this persistence and dedication to excellence which distinguishes him from his peers. [4]
Wang enjoys listening to both classical music and soft rock. His favorite piano piece is Franz Liszts's "Transcendental Etude no. 4, Mazeppa." Wang quotes that "[Wang's instructor Edward Wiles] has been a motivational force for him and has changed his ultimate perception of the instrument." [5] [6] Albert has indicated that he clearly intends on taking his career to a professional level. "He will soon be well known across the world for his incredible talent," said a close friend, "keep an eye out for him in the near future."
