Albion Park High School is a government
co-educational secondary school in
Albion Park, a suburb in
Shellharbour,
New South Wales,
Australia. It
resides on the corner of Church Street and Terry Street.
School History
"For several years
Albion Park has been a rapidly developing
area with the opening of the Centenary Estate. By 1990 the
population had increased to the point where a local high school was
required. The building of our 9 million dollar school was well
publicised and many members of the community became strongly
involved in the planning of enrolments, classes and other
educational requirements. In the middle of 1990,
Colin Walters was
appointed as first principal of the school. Mr Walters was involved
with community members, prospective students, the Department of
Education and
Oak Flats High School in establishing
the new curriculum, resourcing and staffing the school." -
The
Flame, 2000.

Computer
Resources
The school currently had 3 major computer labs. Two
of which have recently been upgraded to new, more powerful
computers with LCD displays. The other computer lab contains older
computers with CRT displays. It is very much overdue to for
upgrade.
The school also has 2 smaller computer rooms, one based
in the Visual Arts block, containing 8 eMac computers. There is
another small computer room containing roughly 20 new computers
with LCD displays in the Industrial Arts block between two normal
rooms (Tas 1 and Tas 2).
The schools library also has a computer
section which contains about 20 computers running Windows 2000
Professional, unlike the others in the school which run Windows XP
Professional (excluding Macs).
Schools External Website
The schools external website is a website built with frames
which were generated by
Microsoft FrontPage 6.0. The website has
been built and managed by staff and students, receiving many
updates from many people with different experience levels. The site
uses plain HTML.
When two students suggested implementing or
creating a
PHP CMS for the
schools website, the schools system administrators said they had
been thinking about purchasing an
ASP.NET content management system to manage the
schools website, and allow teachers to add information more easily,
without any chance of major page layout changes.
