I am not finished writing this. This is a artist/band info page, and there are many of them on here, so why should THIS one be deleted? Also, this is not a 'bio', it is a solo artist's info page.

History, Background, and Biography

Alexander Grim is a solo artist from the Cincinnati area who primarily focuses on Metal, Industrial Metal, and instrumental pieces that are usually more classical in nature. All work is done digitally via computer, and most instruments -- besides the guitar -- are synthesized due to sheer simplicity. Alex Grim's music (primarily the song entitled "Grind") has been featured at some of the Cincinnati based goth clubs including The Warehouse, and Jekyll and Hide's. Due to the diminishing Industrial/Goth scene in Cincinnati no further effort is being made at the local level of promotion. An official (and still unnamed) album is in the works at the present time which will include as many songs as legacy cd players can handle (usually 80 minutes of music), and when complete, this album will most likely be distributed completely free of charge, unless the recipient is over seas, in which case they will have the choice of freely downloading it, or paying for the cost of shipping. Alex is a firm believer in things that are not proprietary or outrageously priced, which especially applies to software and music, so it is very unlikely that you will ever have to pay a dime for any music produced.

Style

All music is done using a seven string guitar. Most music is composed is C tuning, except for the song "This is enogough", which is not is a legitimate tuning at all, as it is in c tuning, which the fat C string dropped down to A tuning, causing an unusual type of tuning that requires you to hold the fingers backwards to form a power chord, or skip 2 frets rather that the normal 1 fret to form an octave power chord. Some song include clips and sample of external elements such as porn stars moaning, or machines grinding, etc, to add to the Industrial nature of the music, whereas others are completely composed of normal instruments, thus falling into the Metal genre. Lyrics are always something taken seriously, and are never there to 'fill space'; the music must match the lyrics, not the inverse.

Discogrophy

At the present time, there are no official 'releases', due to the sheer volumes of time being spent on other projects (see "Other noteworthy items" below). The only release to date was Demo - Lition, which, as its name implies, is only a demo, and includes the following songs:
  • This is enough
  • The strongest seed
  • Hopeless
  • Man of stone
  • Grind

    Other noteworthy items

Alex Grim is also the webmaster and owner of several small websites which take a lot of time from being able to produce music of late. The most noteworthy of the websites is LinuxIntro.com which is where he teaches Linux via video and text tutorials, and WretchedPlayground.com which is a member-driven social networking site that is geared for the 'Underground' crowds (ex: metal heads, goths, etc). One other project that is worth mentioning is the GrimMusic.com site, which is going to be a social music sharing website for underground artists to promote themselves.
