McFarland is a graduate of Liberty University, Lynchburg,
VA where he earned both a B.S. and Master's Degree in Christian
Thought / Apologetics (Master's thesis: An Examination of the
Pantheistic Monism of Shankara and Rhadakrishnan). In recognition
for his accomplishments in the areas of apologetics and evangelism,
Alex was awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by North
Carolina's Southern Evangelical Seminary / Veritas Graduate School
of Apologetics, May 2006.
Ministry==
Alex has been in
full-time Christian ministry since 1989, and has been traveling as
an apologetics-based evangelist since 1996. As of January 2006, the
Lord has enabled Alex to preach the message of Christ in 435
different churches of all denominations. Alex has been privileged
to speak on numerous university campuses, in many schools (public /
private / Christian), and in over two dozen jails and prisons. In
the summer of 2000, Alex and his 9 member ministry team made
national headlines, as they carried out the "Tour Of Truth."
This unique evangelical outreach was part multi-media
broadcast, part apologetics-teaching-seminar, and partly like an
old-fashioned revival. Through 64 services conducted during the
"Tour Of Truth," Alex McFarland preached in 50 states in 50 days,
broadcasting each evening's services over the internet. Alex
continues to organize apologetics conferences, write, preach, and
represent the Christian position in media interviews.
Alex is
not just a feel-good speaker, but a passionate and dynamic
Christian who provides his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ
the tools necessary to evangelize the lost and defend their faith.
Addressing current issues at the forefront of today's society, Alex
delivers the "real" truth about Jesus Christ to a confusing world
by answering the tough questions of life with no-nonsense,
street-smart clarity.
An experienced guest on both Christian
and secular television and radio programs, Alex is determined to
get the message of eternal salvation through Jesus Christ to the
largest audience possible.
Alex has written several books,
including "50 States in 50 Days" which tells the story of his "Tour
of Truth" tour and "Stand: Core Truths You Must Know for an
Unshakeable Faith". Many view Alex as one of American's "up and
coming" Christian Apologists having now filled the shoes of Dr.
Norman Geisler as President of Southern Evangelical Seminary in
Charlotte (Weddington), NC. He is also a frequent guest host on
"Truth Talk Live w/Stu Epperson" which is featured on the Salem
Broadcasting Network and Sirius Radio.
==Southern Evangelical
Seminary
On April 7th, 2006 Southern Evangelical Seminary
announced that Alex McFarland, a long time friend of the seminary,
would become its third president. Alex's blend of apologetics and
evangelism was found to be a perfect fit for SES which includes
both of these in its two-fold mission statement: To evangelize the
world and defend the historic Chirstian faith.
