Alex Shmorhun (born
February 6, 1992)
is a
Ukrainian-born
wrestler. He was awarded a
gold medal in
Greco-Roman
wrestling at the
1996 Olympics in
Atlanta,
Georgia, becoming the youngest
Ukrainian to do so. Shmorhun's wrestling career came to an abrupt
halt in 2004 after allegations of
Radiation Induced Steroid
use were filed against him. RIS, a product commonly found in the
former Soviet States but not widely popular outside them, have been
known to cause accelerated growth of limbs and muscles.
In a
memorable acceptance speech at the 1996 Olympics, Shmorhun stated
(with the help of a teleprompter) that at this early stage in his
career, he was just happy to have been as successful as he was.
Beating three-time Greco-Roman champion
Dmitry Ingabanovinanovina-na,
believed to be the inspiration for the character in the popular
2003 Ben Stiller film,
Zoolander. Shmorhun attributed his unprecedented
success to his ability to wiggle out of his opponent's grasps,
"like David versus Goliath." His main wrestling rival is Stuart
Maier<ref>http://virginiawrestling.com/high_school/hs_wrestlers.php?wr_id=142556</ref>,
an American wrestler believed to have used steroids which stunted
his growth. Another wrestling rival his Joe "Fatta"

another American wrestler known for his skills in fatting on his
oponents. In one famous encounter, "Fatta" jiggled his fat,
blinding Shmorhun, and then attempted to pin him with his thunder
thighs. But, using his ability to wiggle, escaped and proceeded to
then destroy "Fatta", ending his reign of fat.
More recently,
Shmorhun has relapsed into his drug usage, this time following to
the now-popular cult drug
Powerthirst<ref>http://youtube.com/watch?v=qRuNxHqwazs</ref>,
with the hopes of once again becoming good at sports. As a result
of the effects of the menergy beverage, he has already spawned 250
babies and counting. In a spot of Ukrainian genius, however,
Shmorhun gave powerthirst to the babies to make them run as fast as
Kenyans. Using these
speed-babies, he has set up a
hamster-wheel style electrical
power plant and now enjoys a rich profit. He has retired to the
Langley area of Northern
Virginia, where he enjoys the occasional match with Maier and other
local wrestlers.
