Alexander Zaidlin was born in Kiev, Ukraine in 1980. Shortly after his birth, his family moved to Israel. Since a very young age Alex displayed a talent for writing. At the age of 14, he released his first compilation of short poems called "People of Eden" with poems in Hebrew and Arabic. Most of the poems in "People of Eden" dealt with the relationship between the two nations sharing the land of Israel: the Jews and the Palestinians, calling for peace between the nations. Shimon Peres, Israeli prime minister at the time, called "People of Eden" : "a spectacular collection calling for peace and unity, and evoking feelings of hope and love". After travelling around Europe, Alex Zaidlin moved to Toronto, Canada. There he completed a degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Toronto, and is currently working as Actuarial Associate for a reinsurance company. Alex has completed a compilation of poems, including his critically acclaimed title poem "Oh Holy Night". He also finished his first full length novel "My Mike" and is currently working on his first musical "One Dream".

Once is more than enough / Alex Zaidlin

Words hurt the most - it's a lesson well learned.
Piercing her heart, leaving it wounded and bleeding.
She is too strong to cry, even though she got burnt.
Stronger than him, she won't act sorry or needy.

She looks at his face, blankly staring into his eyes.
Studying the emotions that he has been repressing.
Filtering out the truth though all the surrounding lies.
Disregarding the curses, silently counting the blessings.

Closure and love are feelings she terribly misses.
Having a heart of stone can be sometimes hurtful and rough.
Trying pull it together and collect all the pieces,
Silently repeating to herself "Once is more than enough".
