The Alexandria Series of Poker (ASOP) is an annual poker tournament held in Alexandria, Virginia.

Occurring in late November of each year, the Alexandria Series of Poker is a no-limit Texas Hold'em tournament, patterned after the prestigious World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas, Nevada.1 The inaugural Alexandria Series of Poker took place in 2001 and the event has continued to grow in attendance each year since its origin.2 In 2006, the event drew a crowd of forty-one entrants, including Charles H. Wilson,2 a member of the Alexandria City School Board.3 The tournament is traditionally hosted at a different home each year, but for two consecutive years (2005 and 2006), it was hosted by siblings Madeleine Rowan and David Rowan at their family home.

The tournament participants range in age from 18 to 55. Many are college students or recent graduates, but almost all of the attendees are alumni of T.C. Williams High School (featured in the film Remember the Titans). The Alexandria Series of Poker is a low-stakes tournament. Each entrant must pay a $30 buy-in in exchange for their share of chips and only the top ten percent of the field will end the day in the money (ITM), as is the case in most high-stakes tournaments including the World Series of Poker. Blinds are increased rapidly throughout the day and tables are broken frequently in order to foster faster-paced, more aggressive play. The tournament typically begins at noon with the conventional announcement "Shuffle Up and Deal!" and ends on either side of midnight.

In 2006, the Alexandria Series of Poker received considerable media attention relative to years past. It was featured in both The Alexandria Gazette1 and The Washington Post.2
