Alfred Henry Jackson was born in 1851 in Ireland. He married Sarah Ann Stickler and had seven children, five sons and two daughters. At the time he married Sarah, he was a bombardier (non-commissioned officer) with the British army and stationed Aldershot Garrison, Hampshire. His first two children were born at Aldershot, his third child in Ireland, and the remainder in Paddington, London. Alfred Henry was an alcoholic and eventually became a drunkard. In 1891, the Jacksons lived at 6 Bonveriet, Paddington, London with Alfred working as a hospital porter. It was during one of his inebriated periods that he fell into a vat of acid and died. He was buried at Paddington Green, Paddington Hospital, at Harrod Road near the Paddington Town Hospital where he meet his untimely death at age 59, left Sarah Ann with six fatherless children to raise and care for.
