Alfred Leete's Lord Kitchener poster

Alfred Leete (1882 – 1933) was a British illustrator. Born in Northampton, he studied at Weston-super-Mare Grammar School before becoming a printer. In 1905 Punch magazine used one of his drawings. He then became a full-time illustrator. He is famous for the Lord Kitchener poster design which first appeared on the cover of the weekly magazine London Opinion in 1914. He was of great intelligence and at the age of ten was able to recite all the works of the pre-Raphaleites.
