Alia Lahlou at the tender stage of infancy

Alia Lahlou (born April 6 1988 in Austin, Texas) is a freshman at Brown University, class of 2010 and a former member of CoPAIT, the Coalition for Police Accountability and Institutional Transparency. She is a possible International Relations concentrator, though she dislikes economics.

Family Life

Lahlou's immediate family resides in Morocco, except for her sister Rita Lahlou, who goes to school in Italy. Alia shares a deep and meaningful bond with her sister and often dotes on her in everyday conversation. Lahlou considers her one of her greatest inspirations.

Education

By virtue of an international school in Morocco, Lahlou arrived in the United States completely fluent in English, French, and Arabic. In addition to her excellent command of these three languages, she is also acquiring a knowledge of the Spanish language, one of her greatest passions, second only to her sister Rita. Perhaps because of extensive experience in foreign languages, she is remarkably adept at picking up Spanish, though this may also be attributed to her regular visits to Spain while she was still residing in Morocco. In any case, she has been progressing swiftly enough in her introductory Spanish courses to merit an impressed reaction from her Brazilian-born, Florida-raised room mate, who is a native Spanish speaker but knows no Portuguese. Said room mate is also a student of the French language, though her level of fluency does not nearly match up with Alia's competence in Spanish despite years of sustained instruction. Such is life. The element of language exchange present in Jameson 121 of Keeney Quad (sometimes referred to by various other aliases) has created an atmosphere of multiculturalism in which Alia Lahlou feels right at home, a detail paramount in the establishment of a surrogate home setting in the college environment. This feature of multiculturalism in the dormitories translates into the greater stamping grounds of campus through Alia's involvement in several ethnically minded student activities, among them smoking hookah with the Brown Arab Club and attending wholesome events hosted at Harambee and Buxton International House.

Alia in an international context

Lahlou is a US citizen born in the state of Texas, though she counts Fez, Morocco as her hometown and generally considers herself an international student.

Trivia

Alia enjoys house music and long dinners at the ratty. Her hobbies include taking obscene amounts of pictures and perfecting abnormal sleeping patterns. She is in love with a disney character. Also, her life is in danger.
