History: Early Days
After the split of Ǣlite, guitarist Chris Jacobsen's former band, he continued to write music in hopes of putting another band together.
He eventually would start to practice in his basement with bassist Brad Imburgia.
Imburgia and Jacobsen started putting ideas together and quickly moved toward the idea of putting a band together.
In September of 2005 Brad brought his apartment roommate and drummer Andy Guy to sit in and jam.
After becoming a regular at the practices, Andy filled the position of drums and so began the 2 year search for a singer.
All Else Fails began their live career with a 30 minute show at Judson University (formerly Judson College) with a handful of originals and covers.
Chris then recruited the help of previous Ǣlite singer Jon Espel who became the front-man for 3 separate shows as a fill-in while the band looked for a singer.
In need of a name, the members tossed around ideas and names that held meaning as well as had a definitive genre sound.
Jacobsen pulled the phrase "all else fails" from the fact that if all else fails, he would continue to write music and have music as an artistic outlet.
All Else Fails became the name that defined the group not only as a band, but as the mind set of the band's drive as well.
In December of 2006 Andy graduated Judson College with a BA in Graphic Design and moved home to Mequon, WI.
Chris continued writing music for the band even though the future of the group looked bleak.
In February of 2007 All Else Fails secured another show, but this was a defining moment for All Else Fails as Jon requested not to be invited to sub-in for singing any more and Brad Imburgia, after getting married in September of 2006, left the band to pursue other interests.
All Else Fails played the show with Flippy, the bassist from Liberty's Teeth, and then began to search for a singer AND bassist.
Now
While eating the customary "breakfast after a show" at a local IHOP, longtime friend of Andy and fan of All Else Fails, Scott O'Donnell said that he had previous experience on guitar (as Andy had jammed with him on occasion freshman year at Judson) and would try his hand at bass for the band.
When Andy moved back to Elgin for a job the band "reunited" and Scott sat in on practice learning the instrument as well as the music.
All Else Fail's drive to make music and play live led to Scott finding acquaintance Brandon Clouse (from Anderson University) in a late-night response to his "help wanted" post on
facebook.
In June of 2007 Brandon broke a band-singer record by showing up to 3 consecutive practices...AND bringing community beer!
He displayed the drive to write music and play live despite no prior experience on the stage.
The new All Else Fails has been together writing music and playing numerous shows since June 2007 and are only growing in strength.
