Alpha is the name of a group of students involved in the UWA Student Guild elections, founded in 2006 by Dave de Hoog. The team are alledged to be rather inexperienced, and many believe that they only formed for their own self-interest, instead of any real passion to represent the students of UWA. Members of Alpha reject these allegations, citing their years of involvement in the Guild and a stated desire to change the Guild's direction and improve student representation at UWA.

Whilst not claiming to be 'party political', Alpha's policies are considered by some to be overtly right wing, so much so that the campus Young Liberal students chose to preference them in the recent Guild election. Alpha argues that their policies are student focussed, and that given the alternatives (International Student Link, Keep Left, and STAR), the Young Liberal's preferencing decision was not surprising.

In the 2006 UWA Student Guild elections, members of Alpha were elected to the following positions, commencing their terms on December 1, 2006:
  • Guild President (& Senate Representative)
  • Education Council President
  • Welfare Officer
  • Sports Representative
  • Five (5) Ordinary Councillors

  • An Alpha supporter, Carlo Andreacchio was unsuccessful in his campaign for Societies Council Vice-President.
