Alphablox is a key element of IBM DB2 family.

DB2 Alphablox provides a component-based, comprehensive framework for integrating analytics into existing business processes and systems.

According to IBM, Alphablox for Unix and Windows adds new capabilities to the IBM business intelligence portfolio, a key foundation for our on demand capabilities. It:
  • Adds a set of components, based on open standards, that allow you to deliver on the vision of integrated analytics
  • Enables you to broaden and deepen business performance management capabilities across organizations
  • Provides dynamic insight into your respective business environment
  • Allows you to quickly take advantage of new opportunities and overcome challenges while you still have the opportunity to make significant adjustments


  • Brief history

  • Founded in 1996, Mountain View, Calif.-based Alphablox sells software for gathering data from business applications that help managers visualize the collected information. The software, for example, is designed to give a manager up-to-the-minute customer sales data and create a visual "dashboard" for tracking specific metrics, such as the size of transactions.
  • July 2004 - Former Alphablox's CEO Joe Guglielmi signed an agreement for the aqcuisition of Alphablox by IBM. Since Alphablox is an IBM Partner. It was easier for IBM to fully integrate these Business Intelligence solution to their flagship IBM DB2 family.
