The band was formed in late 2005 by Justin Hawkins and co- guitar player Gerald Orvis with the ideal of creating aggressive metal in the vein of bands like Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, and Slayer with the breakaways of the Southern rock bands of years past. Through six months of searching and scouring the ranks of Houston musicians, we converted guitar player Jared Kee to bass, Bo Gardner on Vocals and recruited now non playing member Phil on drums. After a lineup change with Gerald to short lived rhythm guitar player Steve Peters, the band recorded the first three tracks to the bands as yet upcoming album In God We Trusted. Shortly after, Steve left the band and newcomer Josh Prestridge joined the band as Phil left the band. After about two months of searching, Chaosfear enlisted drummer Forrest Puleo. With said lineup in order the band then proceeded to write the next five tracks to finish the album. With a finished album in the not too distant future and a fresh lineup the band decided to change its name to Altercation given the circumstances that seem to have plagued the band since day one.
