Amalgam Digital also houses an exclusive independent record label by the same name, specializing in hip hop music and distribution. In an April 2008 issue, The Source proclaimed that Amalgam Digital has "its finger on the pulse of Hip-Hop's future."[1]

AmalgamDigital.com Store

Founded in 2007, the AmalgamDigital.com store makes promotional, distributional, and PR services available to aspiring independent artists who register as vendors at AmalgamDigital.com, also enabling them to sell music, videos, podcasts, and other material through the online store. On August 21, 2008, AmalgamDigital.com launched its first Amalgam TV live webcast, which featured Joe Budden’s last studio session for his sophomore LP on Amalgam Digital, Padded Room. Over 80,000 visitors viewed the webcast, throughout which Budden interacted with fans and answered questions in real time via a live chat room.[2]

Amalgam Digital Label

Based in Boston, Massachusetts, the Amalgam Digital label is distributed exclusively by Amalgam Entertainment, LLC, a one-stop wholesaler, label, and distribution company that offers additional services such as management, booking, consultation, manufacturing, marketing, and promotional services. As an independent label, Amalgam Digital is home to such artists as Joe Budden, Saigon, Curren$y, Young Riot[1], Max B, Peedi Crakk, Tash (formerly of Tha Alkaholiks), Kurious, The Juggaknots, Dj Benzi, and Tame One (formerly of The Artifacts and The Weathermen). Budden's Amalgam release Padded Room reached #42 in the Billboard 200 chart and #21 in the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in March 2009.[3] Since August 2009, releases by Saigon and Joe Budden are made in partnership with E1 Music (formerly Koch Records)[4]. BET named Joe Budden’s Padded Room and Saigon’s All in a Day’s Work as the #2 and #3 best independent albums of 2009, respectively.[5] In 2009, Amalgam Digital made Boston-based rapper Young Riot the label’s first previously unsigned artist.[6]

Amalgam Digital Record Label
Ushering in the digital revolution, hip hop’s first digital download store went on to create its own record label under the same moniker, Amalgam Digital. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, the Amalgam Digital label is distributed exclusively by Amalgam Entertainment, LLC

The label is credited for bringing hip hop luminaries The Juggaknots out of obscurity by re-releasing their highly sought after “Clear Blue Skies” LP and their sophomore album entitled, “Use Your Confusion”. “Use Your Confusion” was also the first independent hip hop release to feature a lenticular 3-D hologram for cover artwork.

Amalgam Digital followed suit by delivering hungry hip hop fans another lost classic in the form of Kurious Jorge’s “A Constipated Monkey”.[1228] The album was packaged with “The Demo Out-Takes” EP which featured several lost tracks that were recorded during the so called golden era of hip hop (late 1980’s to early 1990’s). This demo tape was once used to almost secure a recording deal with Def Jam and included a Prince Paul produced song called “Beans & Rice”. Kurious’ upcoming second release on the Amalgam Digital imprint, “Monkey Madness…The Real Prosperity” is rumored to feature MF Doom.

The label also signed Tash of Tha Alkaholiks who will release his first ever solo album.

In addition, Amalgam Digital introduced newcomer and Detroit native DJ Benzi. Benzi is a mixtape maven known for his unique work of pairing vocals from artists like The Clipse and Lil’ Wayne to original production from A-Trak, Diplo, Lo Budget, & Gerswin Porter.
