What Is American Coed Pageants, Inc.?

American Coed Pageants, Inc. is a Florida corporation that has been operating
nationwide since 1983. American Coed Pageants is a scholarship program, headquartered
in Pensacola, Florida, for girls ages 3 to 23. Pageants are held on state and national
levels with the national pageant being held each November in Orlando, Florida at the
Hilton Walt Disney World Resort. State pageants are directed by experienced directors
from all across the country. Each director is highly qualified; many have advanced
degrees, and all play an active role in the business and educational community.
American Coed Pageants is not affiliated with any other pageant system nor does it
endorse any other pageants.

What does the name "American Coed" mean?

American Coed Pageants was selected as the pageant name so it would not be confused
with ordinary pageants. A girl who is referred to as “Coed” brings to mind an
All-American girl…one who is a good student, full of enthusiasm for her school and
family, and who is preparing herself to become the very best person she can be. The
goal from the beginning was to be recognized not only as a unique program, but also
one of the best programs available for girls in America.

The Purpose of Miss American Coed Pageants

Founded in 1983, Miss American Coed Pageants has awarded more than $12 million in
scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist in the development of young women
nationwide. They help young contestants become tomorrow's leaders. As contestants are
guided through the steps of competition, they gain poise, self-confidence and valuable
communications skills. Every facet of Miss American Coed Pageants are designed to
develop skills that are found in our country's most successful people; skills that
are an asset in any field, from modeling to business.

Building confidence and self-esteem

Pageants are exciting and lots of fun . . . but there is more than fun and excitement
ahead for every contestant! Every year American Coed sees hundreds of young ladies
arrive on pageant weekend who are too unsure or shy to get on stage. By pageant time
they are enjoying new found confidence and being in the spotlight! American Coed wants
every contestant to go home with a new sense of self-worth and poise that can only be
developed through practice and stage experience. In other words, American Coed wants
contestants to gain confidence, set and achieve goals, and learn to be the best person
