Amos Grunebaum (born January 27, 1950) is one
of the top US obstetricians and gynecologists. His
subspecialty is in maternal-fetal medicine, which
is also known as "high-risk pregnancy".
Early
life
Dr. Grunebaum was born on January 27, 1950. In 1953 his family
moved to Cologne, Germany, where his father
Freddie was born and grew up. From 1956 to 1960, Dr. Grunebaum
attended the Westerwaldschule in Cologne, Germany, then entered
Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium[1] in
Cologne in 1960 and attended medical school at the University of Cologne in Germany
from 1968 to 1975.
From 1978 to 1982 he did his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Downstate Medical Center, and the Kings
County Hospital Medical Center[2] in Brooklyn, New York, and in 1984 he completed a
fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the same institution.
In 1994 Dr.Grunebaum appeared in his only Hollywood movie, The Paper by Ron Howard, where he
played an obstetrician.
Dr. Grunebaum is presently the Director of Obstetrics and the Chief of Labor and Delivery at the New York Weill
Cornell Medical Center which is part of the Weill
Cornell Medical College and the New York Presbyterian Medical Center. Until
2005 he was also the Director of the WebMD Fertility Center and in charge of the WebMD
TTC (Trying To Conceive) message board.
His BabyMed website[3] is one
of the most popular websites for fertility and pregnancy with many
million hits per months. Dr. Grunebaum also formulated the
best-selling FertilAid Supplements[4] and
co-wrote a book with Dr. Ruth Westheimer called "Dr. Ruth's
Guide to Sex During Pregnancy". His professional website can be
