Amplifyd is a
Nigerian
hip-hop group comprising of 4 artists with different talents
with a goal to make good hip-hop music for people of all works of
life to listen to, while stressing their rich African culture in
their music.
Young-B
Young-B stands as the strong root of Amplifyd.
Young-B
Biola
Pedro was born and bred in
Lagos and schooled in the famous
King's
College, Lagos before heading for college in
George Washington University in
Washington DC. As a hobby, he wrote lyrics and poetry and
eventually picked up a microphone and the rest is history. His
lyrics connect with different people on different levels. "I try to
appeal to all sorts of people," he said. "We may be different
people going through different things, but sometimes one voice is
capable of unifying these differences under one umbrella. Confident
but humble, Young-B is an example of a talented young
Nigerian living in the United
States. Apart from being a rapper, he is a very versatile song
writer and lyricist writing songs like
shakara. Young-B is also well known for his stage
performances which is a talent in it's own right. His stage
presence and unique voice only helps his confidence and leadership
on stage when the group performs.
MYTH
If Young-B is the
strong root of Amplifyd, there is no question that the backbone the
group is;
Muyiwa Olorunfemi, a.k.a.
Myth, is arguably the hottest lyricist out
of Nigeria in recent times. He was born and raised in
Lagos and schooled in King’s College
before going to the famous
Syracuse University in
New York to study
Computer
Engineering. He once won a open-mic freestyle battle
competition in New York. His philosophy is simple; rhyme right and
make sense. "Rhyming is easy, but making sense with your rhymes is
what counts” Muyiwa says. That's what most artists fail to realize.
An artist's material needs to have substance..." Muyiwa began
rapping at age 12. He entered many local hip-hop tournaments in
Lagos and by the age of 15, he was well known for his metaphors and
ridiculous armory of punch lines. "I take pride in being a
pound-for-pound artist", Muyiwa said, "but I'm also proud of the
fact that I've found ways to include my personal life in my
verses..." He is a workaholic and a "rhyme-aholic". As a rapper /
songwriter, Myth has taken the art of music-making to another
level. Watch out for this rising star under the Amplifyd emblem.
TITI
Titi Williams-Davies completes the core
of Amplifyd artists. Known simply as "Titi" a.k.a.
First Lady
of Amplifyd, she's taking R&B singing to another level.
Born and raised in Lagos, Titi went to
American International
School, Lagos. She currently studies
Accounting in
George Washington University.
Titi has the voice of an angel and the heart of a winner. Her
dedication to singing can be matched only by her stunning beauty.
It is without a doubt that this newest member of Amplifyd will be
one of the brightest spots of the group. Among other tracks, Titi
features in the popular hits,
Best friends,
Shakara,
Who We Are and the recently produced song
Brand New
Day, along with
Myth and
Young-B.
