Amruta Khanvilkar (Marathi: अमृता खानविलकर ), born 23 November 1984 in Pune, Maharashtra, India is an Indian film actress who appears in Bollywood and Marathi movies. She has appeared in Hindi and Marathi films and established herself as one of Marathi cinema's leading actresses and an accomplished dancer.

Personal life

Amruta was born in Pune to Raju and Gauri Khanvilkar. She belongs to a middle class Maharashtrian family. She has a younger sister named Aditi.

Career

Amruta was a part of “Zee India's Best Cinestars Ki Khoj”, a talent hunt show which was aired on Zee TV in 2004. Ranked third in the Talent Hunt contest, she went on to star in Sahara One's TV Series Ada followed by series Time Bomb 9/11. She also anchored daily "Bollywood tonight" which aired on Zee Music.

Subsequently she began her career in Marathi films starting with Golmaal(marathi film) in 2006 . She was the leading lady of the Marathi film Saade Maade Teen (2007) which was produced by Zee Talkies and is one of the highest grossing Marathi films . She was also a part of the Marathi dance based reality show, Ekapeksha Ek,where she proved her mettle as a great dancer.

She currently hosts the program, Comedy Express, on ETV-Marathi.

Amruta has also worked in several Hindi films such as Mumbai Salsa, HatTrick, Contract and Phoonk.

She was last seen performing a lavani "Wajle ki Bara" in the film Natarang (Marathi). The song is one of the highlights of the movie.
