From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Amsterdam criteria identify families likely to have Hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC).[1][2][3][4]

Critera

  • The patient should be a first degree relative of the others
  • Two successive generations should be affected with disease
  • One tumour should be diagnosed before 50 years of age - including non colorectal cancers.
  • Tumours should be verified by histopathologic examination
  • Confirmatory genetic testing may be completed as indicated
