Ana Free (born 29 June 1987 in Lisbon, Portugal) is the stage name of Ana Gomes Ferreira, a singer–songwriter from Portugal who achieved a certain fame within the popular video sharing website YouTube [1], being the seventh most subscribed to artist on Youtube.
During her childhood, she went to an international school near Cascais where she picked up her distinct accent. She began writing and composing at the age of 10 and has been able to play the guitar fluently for over 10 years. She currently lives in the United Kingdom and has been recently studying for a degree in Economics.
She made her first live TV performance in the summer of 2007 on TVI in Portugal, where she sang "Crazy", a song she had composed herself. She is currently recording her debut album after the success of her first single, which was released on 23 May 2008, "In My Place".[2] The popularity of her song made it feature on Now 19 in Portugal, released 24 November 2008. Ana frequently sings live at gigs in both Portugal and London [3] [4], which are recorded by her friends and uploaded to her blogs and websites. Her most popular song is a cover of Nickelback's "Savin' Me". A video of her playing it reached 1,000,000 views on 19 June 2009[5]
