From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The AnaBritannica is an encyclopedia that started publication in Turkey by Ana Publishing House in Turkey on November 5, 1986. It was designed to be published in weekly fascicles of 64 pages to continue for four years and finish at page 14,400 at the end of the last fascicle. The organization of the editorial structure was designed together with Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc. The fascicles and volumes were designed by B├╝lent Erkmen.

The encyclopedia is based on the Encyclopaedia Britannica Micropedia, with approximately 120,000 entries and 20,000 visuals. On agreement with Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc. the encyclopedia incorporates approximately 30,000 articles written for the eastern part of the world and Encyclopaedia Britannica used these as a source to correct its previous entries.

The third fascicle of the encyclopaedia was collected with a legal case brought to the encyclopedia for acting against the unity of the state. The cases ended up in acquittal and resulted in the encyclopaedia to be a success with public sensitivity.
