Shri Anandi Ma is heir to the spiritual tradition of
Shri Dhyanyogi Madhusudandas.
She is a meditation and yoga teacher with students and disciples in India, Europe, and North America.
For many years, she had been known as Asha Devi or Asha Ma.
In January of 1993, Shri Dhyanyogi gave her the spiritual name Anandi Ma which means, "One who is in Bliss and keeps others in Bliss."
Her husband is
Dileepji.
Early Life
Her early years passed in a quiet and uneventful manner, in an environment rich with spiritual practice and energy.
One day in 1972, at the age of fourteen, she suddenly began to enter a deep state of samadhi (meditation).
She described this experience later, saying that she saw "the light of a million suns" and merged with the Divine Mother.
Shri Anandi Ma's father sought advice on his daughter's condition from Shri Dhyanyogi, who went to their home and awakened her from samadhi.
Anandi Ma described the lucidity of her vision, saying that she saw the Divine Mother "Just as I see you now."
Dhyanyogi was convinced that Anandi Ma was very spiritually advanced for her age and gave her
shaktipat.
Her parents then consented for her to leave home to go study with Shri Dhyanyogi.
Life With Dhyanyogi
Shri Dhyanyogi focused his attention on Anandi Ma as his disciple and taught her how to work with her spiritual energy, including the technique of
shaktipat.
He told people that, "I have been asked by my Guru to hand over the powers of this lineage to her," and set aside other activities to train her for four years.
During this time, Shri Anandi Ma would habitually enter powerful meditative states that could last for hours or even days in length.
She travelled with Shri Dhyanyogi wherever he went, including his trip to the
United States of America in 1976.
At the time of his return to India in 1980, Shri Dhyanyogi returned to India in 1980, told Shri Anandi Ma and
Dileepji to marry and continue his work together.
Today
Today, Shri Anandi Ma and Dileepji spend time in India, the United States and Europe, running meditation programmes and retreats.
They offer Shaktipat initiation and spiritual techniques to
seekers.
They have also continued the humanitarian works begun by Shri Dhyanyogi by founding Dhyanidham
Ashram in
Nikora in
Gujarat, which serves the community by maintaining a hospital, arranging eye surgery camps, and serving food to the poor.
