Anchor Recordings
[930] [officially registered as Anchor Recordings, LLC], is a recording studio based out of the Indianapolis, Indiana area that was started in 2004.
Owner, Brandon Robertson, has been an active musician and contributer to the development of the local Indianapolis music scene since 1992.
Robertson started the studio while he was the bass player for the local well-known band, Project Bottlecap (with such notable members as
Jasin Thomason, formerly of
The Ataris), with the goal of further assisting in the development of the "sound" of Indianapolis by giving local artists an affordable resource for capturing and sharing their art form and further putting Indianapolis in the forefront of the
Indie music scenes.
Over the last several years, Anchor Recordings has become a major influencer and contributer to the local music scene in Indianapolis, Indiana with strong ties to many of the people who have helped develop the Indianapolis music scene over the past 15 years.
Well over 300 local musicians have gone there to capture their music on recording.
Owner, Brandon Robertson, is a big supporter of the music scene, musicians and the freedom of artists everywhere.
Anchor Recordings constantly helps unknown and poorly funded local musicians create good recordings.
By doing this, Anchor Recordings has fundamentally shaped the style and sound of Indianapolis-based music in a variety of musical genres.
Since the beginning of the studio, many local, and some notable, Indianapolis area recording artists have gotten their start in this prolific recording studio and sent their messages to the world through the media of recorded audio.
Some of the more recognized and adulated artists include the nationally recognized master of the mic, Brittney Street
[931] [932], the long-running local metal band, The High Council
[933], the melodic folk project fronted by David Campbell, Lovely Houses
[934], and the ever-popular indie-garage rock band with locally famous members Pat Simms and Alex Bond, Sex Before Marriage
[935].
Recently up-and-coming artists such as The Peggy Sues (an all-female punk band with a song saluting the Indianapolis Roller Derby girls
[936], Steve Boller
[937][938][939] and Sean O'Neil of the well-known band, Crankpin have all recorded their material there.
