Andrass was the son of Katrina Malena, born Mikkelsen and Sámal Joensen from Haldarsvík. He was married with Beata Emilia, born Lindenskov from Tórshavn.

Between 1906 and 1950 Samuelsen was a member of the Faroese parliament (Løgting).
