Andre Wade Dawkins, born September 19, 1991, is an American basketball player who currently plays for Duke Blue Devils men's basketball team as a shooting guard.

Early life and career

Dawkins was born in 1991 in Fairfax, Virginia to Andre Dawkins and Tamara Hill.

He started his high school basketball career at Deep Creek High School in Chesapeake, Virginia before transferring to Atlantic Shores Christian School, where he reclassified as a freshman.

Duke

In June 2008, Dawkins committed to join Duke in 2010, but in July 2009, he announced he would graduate a year ahead of schedule to enroll at Duke University, following the transfer of guard Elliot Williams to Memphis.[1]

In December 2009, an automobile accident in West Virginia killed Dawkins' sister Lacey and injured their mother, Tamara Hill. The two had been on their way from Columbus, Ohio to see Dawkins play against St. John's.[2]

Personal life

Born Andre Wade Dawkins on Sept. 19, 1991 in Fairfax, Va. He is the son of Andre and Pamela Dawkins and Tamara Hill. His Father, Andre, is a financial advisor. His Stepmother, Pamela, is a guidance counselor. He has one older sister, Lacey, who passed away. He also has two younger brothers, Caleb and Jalon, and a younger sister, Naomi. He Enjoys spending time with family, his best friend Jacob Gowler, Sudoku, chess, swimming, watching movies and playing video games with his brothers. His Favorite athlete is Kobe Bryant.
