Andrew Heringer (Born 1984) is a
folk/rock/jazz/funk pop singer-songwriter.
Biography
Hailing from the hills of Northern California, Andrew
Heringer grew up an obvious student of music. A classically trained
guitar and violin player; Heringer found himself pulled toward jazz
and folk at a young age. Admiring the honesty of Dylan, while
imitating the technical expertise of Robertson, he found himself a
unique and engaging sound.
After some youthful stints with the
purely rock genre (Eightfold), Heringer returned to his roots with
his debut album in 2005. And We Hope was a beautiful collection of
vignettes soaked in raw emotion and wrung out, elegantly. His
surprisingly poignant lyrics and rambunctious vocals resonate with
a can't-quite-put-your-finger on it longing, making his music as
much about what's left in it, as it is about what's left out. And
We Hope was a stripped down and striking experiment in folk
simplicity.<ref>http://www.mtdemocrat.com/</ref>
After
writing songs for the follow-up to that intimate 2005 debut from
the confines of living-room couches across California, the
twenty-something singer-songwriter decided "Unfold" would be a
fitting title for the second record. Backed by a cache of Guitars,
Dobro, violin, horns, drums, and a Rhodes piano, "Unfold" delivered
a newfangled punch without jumbling the simplicity and gentleness
that was the first record's charm. Heringer’s sentiments, emotions,
melancholy and refreshing optimism drift more on the folk (Morgan,
the Conqueror) or even sometimes pop (Circles) side of songwriting.
Yet his pleasant, often powerful vocals and hook-filled melodies,
especially on "Being Here," "Hold My Hand," and "Southern
California," convey more of a jazz
spirit.<ref>http://www.dailyemerald.com/</ref>
In
2007, Heringer pulled together an E.P. entitled "It Seems So Long
Since Yesterday." Standout tracks include the immediately appealing
"Fort Bragg", the intensely moving "Don’t Forget", and "Goodnight",
both very catchy offerings that show his unique handle of rock,
jazz, and folk. Add to this, "Summer Roof" (reworked here with a
full band, while also feature on his first release & We Hope),
and sweet 6-string work on "Love To See You Smile", which includes
some beautiful slide guitar
work.<ref>http://www.eugeneweekly.com/</ref>

singer, songwriter, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, actor and
composer of music for theater. As a theater artist, his work has
recently been seen on stages in New York City and Charlottesville,

Andrew has spent the last several years finding a unique sound
that blends his roots of rock and folk with training in jazz guitar
and vocal/stage performance. Though the instrumentation has changed
with each recording, Heringer is known by fans for his honest,
genuine lyrics and catchy melodies. Heringer's music would best be
categorized as Junk Rock, a term coined to compine the unique
mixture of Jazz/Folk/Funk and
Rock.<ref>http://www.andrewheringer.com</ref>
He has
spent the last several years playing shows all over the country
building a solid and steady fan base meanwhile selling thousands of
albums for his label Dawson Records. At times he plays acoustic
with percussionist Eric Frank, who also provides background vocals.
Other times you will see Heringer in a highly energetic show with a
full 6 or 7 piece band known to play sets up to 2 hours in length.
His backing group, which has gone by many different names
depending on the show, is made up

(Keyboards), Kellen Garcia (Bass), Eric Frank (Guitar and
Percussion), Jason Galbraith (Saxophone), And Jonathan McHenry
(Drums), all of whom have graduated from college with degrees in
Jazz
performance.<ref>http://www.andrewheringer.com</ref>
This is part of what makes the band so dynamic. They have the
knowledge to dazzle an audience with musicianship yet they also
have the musical understanding to showcase the
songs.<ref>http://www.eugeneweekly.com/</ref>
