Andrew Salmon,
December 7 1946 -
May 16 2002, was an
English film director and scriptwriter, most noted for his direction of the
1967 horror film
The Grim Death.
Early Life
Andrew Salmon was born in
Somerset on
December 7 146, with his parents moving to
Belfast,
Northern Ireland, the same year.
He recieved his education at the
Royal Belfast Academical Instisution, which he joined in
1959 and left in
1958, due to having to repeat his fourth-form year due to poor exam results.
Film Career
After taking up a number of jobs for short periods of time, Andrew got a small-time job as an on-set assistant for the
1964 film
Tom Jones.
It was then he decided he wanted to be a director, and, after three years climbing the promotion ladder, making money by writing scripts part-time he was given a small budget to make a film, and he produced
The Grim Death in
1967.
The Grim Death was a flop, the first and only film he produced.
Later Life
After his failure, he continued writing scripts, and died of
Bowel Cancer, in his house in
Dorset, in [2002]].
