Hawk and Crow - Joseph Mathias Hawk is a member of the Harbor
Storms, the near-legendary elite of Ylelon's military. They are the
best of the best, trained for covert ops and to be able to stem any
invasion and counter any foe that tries to invade Ylelon. Entire
military actions by hostile countries have been staved off in the
past by the mere threat of the Harbor Storms responding to the
attack.
Before Hawk became a Harbor Storm, however, he was
merely an exceptional soldier rising through the ranks due to his
tremendous natural potential and dedication to his country. His
fiancée, Angela Wright, was a student in a local martial arts dojo
in Ylelon City. Hawk sometimes attended classes with her, and it
was there that the two of them caught the eye of George
Manor.
George sometimes came to the dojo with Tina McClay, a
member of the Lonely Winds who trained with the co-owners of the
dojo, Master Pana and Master McCoy, themselves secretly former
Lonely Winds. It was Tina that introduced Angela to the dojo, and
George was so impressed by Hawk and Angela when he saw them that he
showed them around his Mansion. They adapted remarkably quickly to
the odd new lifestyle. Hawk saw fighting monsters as just one more
way he could serve his country, and the chance to improve his
conditioning and show off for his mate didn’t hurt, either. Angela
wasn’t the fighter Hawk was, but George recognized the sharpness of
her mind, and he took to teaching her a skill none of the other
active Lonely Winds knew he had to teach: magic. Soon, the two were
fighting alongside the others in the field, Hawk laying waste to
supernatural beasts with his tremendous fighting ability, and
Angela offering support in the form of the same powers the monsters
themselves often relied upon. She was so talented that George
jokingly compared her to a crow, both as a corollary to her
boyfriend’s name and in reference to a bird often associated with
mysticism. The name stuck, and Hawk and Crow became important
members of the team for almost two years. They were often away,
Hawk on duty, Crow taking courses in psychology, but they returned
at every opportunity to fight the good fight even after they were
married.
That all changed when Tina was killed in the field.
Heartbroken, Crow reluctantly withdrew from the team. Hawk left
with her: he had just been accepted into the Harbor Storms training
program. Their departure reduced the active Lonely Winds to a mere
three, the smallest membership in the history of the group. Despite
this, the other team members bear them no ill will, and regard them
as good friends to be remembered fondly.
