Angelica DiCastro has been on an exciting journey, traveling with
her God given gifts, a desire to explore and a passion to perform.
This journey has taken her to many countries, singing in many
languages and sharing her gifts with many people.
In her
travels, Angelica found her first taste of success with the
independent release of her first single “I Can See It In Your Eyes”
in 1993 when she was only 15 years old. The song received enough
airplay in Europe and Canada to warrant strong reviews in The
Record, Chart Magazine and Billboard Magazine (see press
reviews).
As a result of the overwhelming support from her fans
and industry, Angelica recorded her debut album simply entitled
World Of Love, an important turning point in her young career. It
was at this time that Angelica began exploring the world of
songwriting. “A Gift Of Memories” one of the ballads from her debut
LP was the product of this labour. World Of Love garnered much
attention in European countries such as Portugal, Greece and
Holland. “Don’t Know”, another ballad from this album, was featured
in a European radio commercial.
Angelica’s sophomore album took
a different direction. Once again, independently released, the
self-titled album Angelica Di Castro, features a collection of the
most popular Italian songs recorded including “Caruso”, “Torna
Surriento” and “Io Che Non Vivo”. Angelica has sold 4000 copies
from live performances alone.
In 2002 Angelica received what
she considers her greatest honour to date when she was invited to
perform “Light Of The World”, the International World Youth Day
theme song, not only in front of millions but also for Pope John
Paul II in Toronto, Canada. Major networks all around the world
broadcast this momentous occasion live.
After graduating with
honours in classical voice from York University in 2003, Angelica
was compelled to immerse herself in her Italian heritage, an
impulse that drove her to release a collection of the most popular
Italian songs ever recorded.
In the spring of 2004, Angelica was
invited by C.I.M Canada (Confederation of Italians in the World) to
represent Canada in Paris, France where she performed at “Un Nuit a
Paris”, the closing concert for delegates attending this
international conference of Italian Businesses around the world.
In 2006, Angelica signed a management deal with Peter Linseman
and Music Mentor Productions. The first few months were spent
gathering songs, recording and releasing the 8 song EP,
"Bittersweet". The full album is scheduled to be released June,
2007. Angelica and dB Promotions & Publicity worked together to
launch a successful CD Listening Party for the release of
"Bittersweet". The immediate results were TV appearances on OMNI
TV, CHIN, Roger's Daytime Shows, magazine articles, magazine
reviews and internet features. On Nov. 18th, 2006 Angelica opened
for Jann Arden with Dini Petty as a host and performances by Cirque
du Soleil. She had the honour of singing at the Order Of Ontario
Awards and regularly sings at the Air Canada Centre for the Toronto
Raptors NBA basketball team. Most recently Angelica received a Best
Pop Artist nomination at the 2007 Ontario Independent Music
Awards.
Beautiful Feeling, released February 2008 can be broadly
described as adult contemporary with a light rock edge and has
already been compared to Celine Dion’s latest original releases.
Angelica performs tracks by acclaimed songwriters David Foster
(Celine Dion), Joel Feeney (Lee Ann Rimes) Dean Mctaggart (Amanda
Marshall), Jud Friedman (Whitney Houston) and more.
