Angelo Plessas (born 1974 in Athens, Greece) is a self-taught
artist of Greek-Italian descent. In 2001 he moved to New York and
since then he lives and works between NYC and Athens. In his work
Plessas uses the internet as his canvas. He combines animations
with domain names to create websites. These websites are usually
flash
animations of strangeness, poetry and abstract feelings. He is
fascinated by weird portraits and faces as well by the feminine and
vintage aesthetic. Plessas uses websites where we can imagine
meaning and experience objects, the same way we can admire a sunset
or a sculpture in a public square. Since 2001 he is a basic member
of the art movement Neen.One
of his latest activities is creating sculptures on the virtual
world Second Life.

"The idea of the domain name and animation
creates this: An electronic artwork that can simultaneously exist
on thousands of computers at the same time, visible from every
place on the planet, yet the piece is a unique object which can
never be copied, because it exists in only one location, the domain
name. A piece that is on a .com location will never be the same on
.Net or .Org. The collector that buys a website owns a unique piece
of art which also has certificate of authenticity."
