The project will include new productions from Timbaland, Jermaine Dupri[2] and Swizz Beatz as well as The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. It is due for release in the U.S. on March 30, 2010 exclusively through Target and iTunes but is expected to receive a full international release throughout March and April 2010.

Background

Christopher "Tricky" Stewart revealed to Rap-Up magazine that there will be a Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel remix album, which will features new versions of each of the original songs. The album will feature the official remix to "Obsessed" with Gucci Mane whilst Stewart revealed that he would personally be remixing "I Want to Know What Love Is" by raising the tempo and "making it something different, it may even include a feature".[3] In an interview with Rap-Up, Trey Songz confirmed that he would appear on the remix to "Inseparable".[3] It has been confirmed that the remix that Jermaine Dupri produced for "H.A.T.E.U.", which samples Ghost Town DJs' "My Boo" and features rap verses from Big Boi (of Outkast), Gucci Mane, and OJ da Juiceman, will also be on the album. It is the first time since 2006's So So Def remix to "Say Somethin'" that Carey has recorded new vocals for a remix.[4] T-Pain has been confirmed to appear on the remix to "Candy Bling" which samples a sped up melody from Jamie Foxx's "Blame It".[5] On October 20, 2009 Stewart revealed R. Kelly appears on the opening song "Betcha Gon' Know (The Prologue)".[6] He also explained that, in fact, the album was less about remixes but more about appealing to more people by putting guests on 90% of the songs. He also stated that the new version of the album may feature one or two new songs.[6] Carey has said she would like to collaborate with Westlife again for a song exclusive to the United Kingdom. Saying of the collaboration, "I want it to be the next single here and different to the rest of the world," she said. "I can't wait to do it."[7]

Carey said that various songs that failed to make it on Memoirs will be included on the remix album. Carey said that "There will be more than one Timbaland track and at least one J.D. track".[2] In December 2009, Carey said that she had several unheard songs which could appear on the album.[8] It has been reported that Swizz Beatz will work on some of the remixes on the album.[9] Snoop Dogg and Fabolous have also been linked to the project by Yahoo! music[10] whilst a newletter from Carey's website confirmed appearances from Mary J. Blige, Fabolous, The-Dream, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Akon, K-Ci & Jojo.[11]
