'Angle Boy' is a Danish Rap artist. He was born Anders Pederson in Copenhagen, Denmark, on the 21st of July 1965, the first of four children. His parents, Thor and Magrette Pederson, both dentists, had three more sons, named Thor, Jon and Yanik. Because of his parents' interest in languages, Angle Boy speaks Dutch, French and Polish, as well as Danish. Many of his songs are written in Dutch and French, as he "Enjoys variation". However, he does not often use Polish lyrics, as he states that they are "Hard to rhyme".

Musical Career

Angle Boy first hit the music scene in 1981 with his first single "Schuld hep op me" - "Blame it on me". This reached #1 in Denmark for 15 weeks running, which broke all previous records, and in Holland for 6 weeks. The song was also featured in the Dutch smash-hit film "de valentijnskaartjongen" - "The Valentine Boy". To date, this is his most successful single, and, like many musicians, Angle Boy claims to dislike performing the song due to its popularity, and says that it is 'overplayed'.

Angle Boy has released over 20 albums, but the most popular is almost certainly "Puisque j'ai dit ainsi" - "Because I said so", his first fully French Language publication, featuring his famous duet with the French songstress Emilie de Renvenue. This album sold over 20 million copies altogether in Denmark, France and Holland, although it was not popular in most of the rest of Europe, especially Poland and Lithuania, due to the song 'Je deteste l'Est' - 'I hate the East', referring to Eastern Europe. This song caused great controversy, but Angle Boy deflected comments that he is racist by claiming that this song was 'A joke'.

Although Angle Boy's music is enormously popular in Europe, he is virtually unheard of in Britain or America, due to the fact that only four of his songs contain any English lyrics. The most famous of these is "My tequila", which is mainly in Danish, but contains the repeated English lyric, "Give me my tequila".

Angle Boy's music has enjoyed almost continuous popularity since his first appearance, and of all his 21 studio albums, only 4 have reached below #10 in overall European album charts. His least popular album to date, 'Muzak', reached only #43, to Angle Boy's continued shame. It has been suggested that this album was unpopular due to the fact that it is composed entirely of 'elavator music', or 'muzak'. However, this lead to the album being purchased by nearly every major European hotel, leisure centre and hospital, as well as other public facilities, to be played in elavators, lobbies and waiting rooms.

Early Life

Angle Boy spent the earliest part of his childhood in Copenhagen, with his family, in their small townhouse. His parents owned a dental surgery across the road, and the children attended the local school, 'Sant Bartolomew'. However, at the age of nine, his life was turned upside down when his parents were arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was discovered in their dental surgery. His parents eventually were sentenced to life in prison, and Angle Boy was sent to an orphanage along with his brothers. Not much is known about this part of his life, as he refuses to comment, but it is understood that Angle Boy began writing his songs during his time in the orphanage.

Angle Boy attended a secondary school in Copenhagen, the name of which is unknown, until the age of sixteen, when he was expelled for graffitiing the principal's car with his now-famous lyric "juger non jamais aidé" - "Holding never helped". This was deemed to be controversial and disruptive behaviour. After leaving school, Angle Boy pursued his music career. He took a job as a waiter in the popular Copenhagen restaurant "Teeg's", where he had the opportunity to perform for the first time on the restaurant's 'open mic nights'. Here, he was spotted by the owner of the Dutch record label "De verslagen van het notitieboekje" - "Notebook records". He was asked to come to the studio in Amsterdam to record an album. This was the start of Angle Boy's career.

Later Life

Once he had broken into the music business, Angle Boy's life changed for the better. He went from his life as a poor orphan to being an extremely successful musician. For the first time, he had money of his own, and at first he didn't know what to do with it. Between the ages of 17 and 20, it is reported that Angle Boy had a habit of staying out all night in the nightclubs of Amsterdam. He also became involved with drugs, cocaine in particular, and it was this that led to his famous overdose of 1985, which nearly killed him. However, after a lucky escape, Angle Boy lefty behind his life of drugs and parties to pursue religious fulfillment. At the age of 21, Angle Boy spent a month in a Tibetan monastery, where he had the idea for his popular album "Puisque j'ai dit ainsi", probably his most spiritual and emotional album. After this, he immersed himself in his music, and became, according to some, "Very reclusive". When asked about this phase in his life, Angle Boy will only say "No comment... except that it's all going to be in my autobiography!" This autobiography, 'I did that mine way', is rumoured to be nearing completion.

Relationships and Arguments

Angle Boy has been involved in a huge number of famous affairs and fights. He famously dated French singer Emilie de Renvenue while she was still married to her husband of four years, Jacques Sans-les-Pieds, a famous French shoe designer. This affair ended in heartbreak for all involved, and lead to Angle Boy's first suicide attempt, in 1987, which involved trying to hang himself from Emilie's balcony. However, she called the police and fire brigade and Angle Boy was rescued.

Angle Boy also famously disagrees with the French R&B artist Bill-Bill de la Tantre. During the production of their collaborative album, which was never completed, they struggled with 'Creative Differences', which led to a drunken brawl in the now renowned club 'Roundi Blanc' in Cannes, France. During the fight, Bill-Bill was badly injured, leading to the loss of movement in both legs. He now uses a wheelchair. Bill-Bill filed for a lawsuit, but it was never carried through, due to insufficient evidence. To this day, the two will not meet or speak to each other.

Pregnancy Scandal

In the Summer of 1988, Emilie de Renvenue revealed that she was pregnant. It was generally assumed that the child belonged to her husband, but due to the Angle Boy affair, she insisted upon a paternity test. This uncovered the truth: Angle Boy was the father. On the 5th of August 1988, Angle Boy's first and only child, Crystalle de Renvenue-Pederson was born. Althought she was mainly raised by Emilie and Jacques in France, Crystalle spent two weekends each month with her father in his mansion in Copenhagen, where he now lived. Angle Boy remains close to Emilie and Jacques, and spends much of his time with his daughter, now 19.
