Animé Connect subtitled 'The Official UK Anime
Club Magazine' is an A5
fanzine which began in 2001. The covers to the first
three issues were provided by
illustrator Laura Watton, which were reproduced as a
T-Shirt that was offered as a prize in the second issue.
Anime
Connect is a 32-page (supposedly) quarterly UK
anime magazine, provided by distributor MVM as
part of its UK Anime Club. The content is provided by the club
members, with some opting to be credited with their messageboard
names. The magazine also covers
manga and will also on occasion feature fan art and
run features on relevant items such as
Cosplay and
J-pop.
With its eigth issue, a redesign saw the
magazine become 'Anime Connect Volume II' - though the issue
numbering continued on from "volume I". #10 was the last for
original editor Ross Liversidge and sub editor (since #3) Gemma
Cox. New editor "DarkDesigns" and sub editor "fennec" took over
with the following issue.
The magazine has constantly suffered
problems with printing, meaning that the "quarterly" magazine has
never had more than three issues released in a year. Likewise
technical problems meant the website (featuring additional reviews
and articles) was rarely updated until DarkDesigns and fennec took
over.
