Ann Walton Kroenke is, indirectly, an heir to part of the Wal-Mart fortune. Along with her sister, Nancy Walton Laurie, Kroenke inherited stock from father, Bud Walton (died 1995), who was an early business partner and brother of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton. Her husband, Stan Kroenke, is a real estate developer and a billionaire in his own right; he is a part-owner of the St. Louis Rams (NFL), Colorado Crush (Arena Football League), and Arsenal F.C. (Premier League, English football (soccer)) and majority owner of the Denver Nuggets (NBA), Colorado Avalanche (NHL), Colorado Rapids (Major League Soccer), and Colorado Mammoth (National Lacrosse League).
