Anna Louise married Charles Albert Zehnder in Switzerland. According to family lore Anna came to the united states in 1895, pregnant with her second daughter. Her 1st husband Charles had gone to South Africa to try his luck with the gold mines. It is said that latter on he wrote letters to Anna saying that he wanted to come back to her, but her family hid them from her. Charles' father was said to be a watchmaker in Bern.
