Anneka Tanaka-Svenska is a well-known vegetarian, TV presenter, and conservationist living in the United Kingdom

Born in the UK and educated at Wycombe Abbey School, Anneka forged an early admired reputation for her work with animals and conservation, winning awards for being the youngest, most active member of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). She went on to read Drama with Environmental Studies, gaining a BA/BSc at De Montford University. She completed her education with a Post Graduate Diploma in Drama at The Guildford School of Acting.

Anneka later appeared in a long line of well-known UK television shows and several feature films including outTHERE, an extremely popular cult movie show of the early 2000s. She has also starred in Still Crazy opposite Billy Connolly, alongside Daniel Auteuil in The Lost Son, as a Generation Game Hostess, opposite Martin Kemp in EastEnders, in It's Me or the Dog and in Steve Irwin A Tribute.

Most recently, Anneka has been known for her work with wolves and wolf conservation and also for being a prominent mover and shaker in the newly recognized Czechoslovakian Wolfdog breed.

Anneka is the step daughter of Ben Metcalfe, the original co-founder of Greenpeace and supports many charities including Viva! (Vegetarians Voice for Animals), the World Society for the Protection of Animals, the World Wildlife Fund, PETA, Global Angels, Battersea Dog's Home, Wildlife Warriors, Born Free Foundation and of course Greenpeace. Anneka is an honourary celebrity patron to the following organisations: Cornish Voice for Animals, World Animal Day, Global Angels and the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog.

Her family 'Tanaka' (Gary Tanaka) are known for their horse racing success and their philanthropic actions over the years, including donating £27 million to Imperial College, which resulted in construction of the Tanaka Building in 2004, designed by the international architecture, planning and design studio Foster and Partners. The building houses Imperial College Business School, and combines the business school's facilities with a new front entrance for the College.

Anneka supports her family horses at many UK and international races and is known for wearing outrageous haute couture hats crafted by celebrity milliner Louis Mariette judge of Britain's Next Top Model, Cycle 5, which she showcases annually at Royal Ascot and other races worldwide.

Anneka writes for many fashion blogs and is also a regular writer for Dogs Today magazine and K9 Magazine where she advises readers on both alpha dog and wolf behaviour and wolf conservation.

Some trivia include that her family own U.S. General Dwight D. Eisenhower's wartime headquarters mansion in London, her brother played lead guitarist alongside Brian Connolly in The Sweet and also alongside Pat Benatar in the 1970s. She is also related to Joe Swash, EastEnders star and latest winner of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me out of Here! (UK).

Anneka lives in central London, but the majority of her family are based in the USA.
