In 1890, the first light was erected on Año Nuevo.
The light was a lens lantern, which was mounted on the water tank.
The station received a two-story duplex next to the original dwelling around 1906.
Finally, in 1915, an official skeleton tower with a Fresnel lens in its lantern room was erected.
On October 22, 1926, an earthquake struck the station and shook the lens off its pedestal and onto the floor of the watchroom where it shattered.
The lantern lens was again displayed until a replacement lens arrived.
The station was deactivated in 1915, and a whistle buoy is used to mark the area today.
The light tower demolished in 1976.
