Anvil Studio's interface.
Anvil Studio is a free MIDI music composition program by Willow Software, a
Seattle-based company.
It is unusual for its interface, which allows users to enter notes
by clicking on a piano keyboard or on guitar frets. There is also
an option to enter notes in a piano roll. Optional accessories can
be purchased that add features such as the ability to print
composed music as sheet music or to record up to eight audio tracks
that can accompany MIDI music. MIDI files saved with Anvil contain
extra information such as instrument order, lyrics, and comments,
which can be viewed by any other person using
Anvil.

Anvil Studio contains one-hundred and
twenty-eight different synths. These include but are not limited
to, pianos, organs, guitars, strings, brass, and woodwinds. It also
